1 to 2 Keyboard Instruments*
*The 1 to 2 keyboard instruments may be any form of keyboard instrument including digital piano, keyboard, piano, harpsichord etc. The parts may also be played by any of the sax or alto and bass clarinet players provided they are played on a keyboard instrument because their parts finish before the keyboard parts begin. The left and right hands may be split between players for ease of playing. This would then require 4 players for the 2 parts.
If only 1 keyboard player is available, then the piano must play the keyboard 2 cue so that the part is still covered. It is however my preference for there to be 2 players so that there is a difference in timbre between the piano and keyboard instruments (even if that difference is only very slight).
About
The entire piece is based on a single theme:
It commences in the form of an untraditional march with a feel of relentless plodding. The march then morphs into a fugue based on the same theme before coming to a close with the main theme finally heard in its original form spread across different octaves.
