Every artist and every human values a unique collection of ideas and beliefs that helps to shape their identity. Each value gives us insight into a person’s character and how we can expect them to behave. Learning what someone else values can be a way of working out if we are going to be able to get along with the person and sustain an ongoing relationship, be it professional or otherwise. However, it is important that a value is more than just the paper (or screen). So here is a list of some of the values that we seek to maintain here at The Techie Flutist.
Courage is not a lack of fear but feeling your fear and choosing to do it anyway. Nearly every form of musical experience takes courage.
Creativity has to be at the very heart of an artists work and has to be actively cultivated in order the thrive. We create for the sake of creating, for other people, for education and for ourselves.
Responsibility can be terrifying and requires us to examine what we both are and aren’t genuinely accountable for
Integrity is honesty. It starts with the goal of keeping your words, actions and thoughts in alignment with your values but it requires brutal honesty. Approaching your musical practice and life with integrity can increase the joy and fulfilment that you experience.
The Techie Flutist’s Blog contains a growing number of articles for music students, parents of musical children, flautists, composers and music lovers. It is a place to explore, ask questions, learn, connect with others, discover new music and ponder some of the many different aspects that relate to music
